The opening was followed by a banquet and ball. Costs for the ball were 10 shillings a double, 7 shillings and six pence for gents and 5 shillings for ladies. The building was destroyed by fire in 1981. Pilliga School of Arts The Statistical Register of New South Wales for 1900 lists the Pilliga School of Arts but gives its establishment date as "unknown". It states that almost £52 was subscribed for the building's maintenance, in addition to about £100 which had been contributed by the State Government in that year and earlier. The building was demolished in about 1980 after being declared unsafe.
