Tuesday 13 OCTOBER 12:30–1:30pm

The 1918 Spanish Flu epidemic killed more than 100 million people. Even in areas where mortality was low, so many people were incapacitated that much of everyday life stopped. Yet, strangely, this devastating epidemic has been expunged from the collective memory. This lecture will describe the genesis and devastation of the Spanish Flu and its relevance to bird and swine flu in the 21st century.

Anne Cooper is a well known osteopath in private practice in Sydney. As an osteopath and student of Medical History at the University of Sydney, she has a great interest in the Spanish Flu epidemic.
