THE AUSTRALIAN BOOK OF HEROISM
TUESDAY 17 August, 12:30-1:30pm

Larry Writer has been researching and writing about people for over 30 years. In this Talkabout, he will discuss his recently-published book, The Australian Book of Heroism, focusing on everyday Australian heroes including people like Dr Grace Warren, Ingrid Poulson and Paul Featherstone whom he thinks “are wonderful examples of the human spirit”. He will also talk about his award-winning book Razor (the story of Tilly Devine, Kate Leigh and the Razor Gangs of Sydney).

Larry Writer is a former editor, senior journalist and London bureau chief with ACP and Time Inc. Magazines and in recent years has been a freelance writer for the SMH’s (sydney) magazine, Australian Financial Review and the Bulletin. His other books include Never Before, Never Again and Pleasure and Pain.

Mitchell TheatreThe Mitchell Theatre is located on Level 1, 280 Pitt Street.

171 Seats (142 seat recommended capacity due to obstructed views).

The hire fee includes a fixed data projector, projection
screen, sound system, lectern and a computer with internet
access. Instructions for use of the room equipment are displayed on the wall and are also available at Level 3 Reception.


Food and beverages MUST NOT be consumed in the Mitchell Theatre, however the foyer may be used as a break-out area. 

Wheelchair accessible.

Hearing loop installed.
